Join Professor Maziar Nezhad of the University of Salford to explore the world of Integrated Photonics and how this cutting-edge technology is being utilised in various sensing arenas.
Photonics is the science, practice, and technology used for the generation, detection, and manipulation of photons, which are the fundamental particles making up light. This is an advancing technology with a deluge of applications, ranging from laser surgery, sensors, self-driving cars, and solar panels to high-speed internet and quantum computing.
This will be particularly relevant to businesses operating in the navigational sensing, chemical sensing, metrology, and robotics areas.
The workshop will be delivered in two sessions:
Session 1: The basics of integrated photonics and the manufacturing methods used to realise integrated photonic devices.
Session 2: Examples of several case studies where integrated photonics is being used to develop new sensing paradigms in the navigational and chemical sensing arenas.
In addition, an overview of the capabilities of the newly established Nanophotonics and Microsystems laboratory at Salford University will be provided.
This workshop is ideal for businesses operating in the Energy and Environment, Technology, Healthcare, Automotive, Manufacturing, Telecommunications, Metrology and Instrumentation, Food and drink, and Display technology (VR) sectors.
We look forward to welcoming you!
This workshop is funded by Research England (RED)
