    Privacy Policy

The South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SYMCA) is the accountable body for Made Smarter Yorkshire & Humber programme.

Confidentiality: SYMCA will treat application information as confidential where possible and will only share it with those directly involved in the Made Smarter Yorkshire & Humber programme, unless consent is given or if required by law.

Freedom of Information: SYMCA is subject to the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA) and the Transparency Code. In some cases, we must release information if requested, though we may withhold it under FOIA exemptions (e.g., s.41 – information provided in confidence, s.43(2) – commercial interests). Applicants should identify any information they believe should not be disclosed. Final disclosure decisions rest with SYMCA.

Data Protection: SYMCA is the ‘controller’ of your personal data (ICO registration: ZA051694) and processes it to deliver the Made Smarter Yorkshire & Humber programme. To support your participation in the programme, your data will be shared with partner organisations involved in delivering different workstreams of the programme. We may also share information if:

    1. Legally required or requested by authorities (e.g., police, courts).
    2. Needed for legal advice or proceedings.
    3. Necessary to protect vital interests (e.g., emergencies).

Retention: Data will be kept for 10 years for audit purposes, then securely deleted.

Under the Data Protection Act 2018 and GDPR, you have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict your data, and to object to certain uses (e.g., marketing). You can withdraw from the scheme at any time, but this does not affect prior lawful use.

If you have any concerns, these can be raised with the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
