You’ll be working at the point where 3D CAD design meets real workshop production, helping turn existing furniture designs into repeatable, optimised digital assets that can be manufactured using CNC and traditional woodworking methods.

Preston based manufacturing SME specialising in the design and manufacture of GRP mouldings for commercial and specialist vehicles. The business is transitioning from paper based and manual systems to a fully digital approach to managing production, purchasing and accounting.

The company is implementing MRPeasy for manufacturing operations and moving from Sage to Xero for accounting, with the intention of removing Sage entirely. Smart Manufacturers will support the initial system set up and onboarding, after which the business will manage the data migration and system embedding internally. The internship will support the Director with the transfer of data into the new system, the development of clear data flows, and the creation of reporting and dashboards. The project will ensure that accurate, structured data is in place and that the business can operate effectively using MRPeasy and Xero.

The Client is a precision manufacturer based in Greater Manchester, specialising in mould tooling for a range of industrial customers. The business has invested in CNC technology and CAD/CAM systems but continues to rely heavily on manual and paper-based workflows, particularly in job tracking, scheduling, and production reporting. Orders are currently handwritten, and there is no real-time visibility of work in progress. This project will support the Client's journey towards digital maturity by introducing visual management tools and digitising core manual processes to improve efficiency, traceability, and decision-making.
