PGM Reball Ltd manufactures small and miniature ball screws for the aerospace, defence, and space sectors, and also operates a ball screw repair and refurbishment facility.
The company is committed to precision engineering and efficiency, supporting critical industries with high-quality components.
With a significant increase in business volume expected in 2026, PGM Reball faced operational pressures. Production scheduling and workflow management were becoming increasingly complex, while managing tools and consumables for CNC machining was costly and inefficient. The company sought a digital solution to streamline processes, reduce costs, and maintain production flow as demand grew.
Through the Made Smarter programme, PGM Reball developed a digital roadmap, gaining insights into operational improvements that were previously unknown. Grant funding was secured to support capital equipment investment, reducing project risk, and a digital intern assisted in implementing and managing the digital transformation. Future plans include achieving Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus certification and implementing a comprehensive MRP system to integrate production planning and resource management.
The programme provided PGM Reball with objective insights into digital opportunities, enabling smarter decision-making and improved efficiency. Workflow and tool management are now optimised, costs have been reduced, and the business is better equipped to handle increased production volumes.
PGM Reball is continuing its digital transformation journey with MRP implementation and enhanced cyber security. By leveraging technology and structured support, the company is positioned to scale efficiently, maintain quality, and stay competitive in high-demand sectors.
