During this internship, you'll support an exciting digital transformation project within a growing business. You'll analyse current processes, map workflows from customer order to installation, and identify opportunities to improve efficiency. Working with the team, you'll help evaluate a new ERP system (Odoo), support system testing, and explore integration with Sage Accounts. You'll also review order tracking, purchasing and inventory processes, investigate automation opportunities, analyse business data, and help create recommendations and process documentation to support future improvements.

PWL Price Western is seeking a digitally capable undergraduate student or recent graduate to support the adoption and implementation of a new professional 3D-printing capability. The project forms part of PWL Price Western’s wider digital-manufacturing journey and is intended to expand the company’s capabilities.

The business combines standard and bespoke manufacturing and is continuing to invest in digitalisation, automation and process improvement. Balmoral is exploring how digital technologies and AI can improve manufacturing processes, reduce repetitive administrative activity and provide better operational information to support decision-making.

We are offering a 12-week Digital Internship to support a practical project focused on digitalising shop-floor activities and using data and AI to reduce repetitive clerical work. Working alongside the Continuous Improvement Engineer, the intern will help explore how production and quality information can be captured, reported and presented more effectively, with the aim of reducing manual administration and improving operational visibility. The project will provide an opportunity to work directly with a manufacturing team and explore practical applications of tools including Excel, Claude and Microsoft Copilot.

Slaphappy manufactures customised climbing products and is experiencing growth in both order volumes and product variation. As the business scales, existing processes for managing customised orders, component stock and production scheduling are becoming increasingly difficult to coordinate efficiently.

Currently, stock management is focused primarily on finished products, limiting visibility of the individual components required for production. Customised orders created through the point-of-sale (POS) system also require additional manual intervention before entering production, creating the potential for delays, scheduling challenges and inconsistent lead times. This internship project will support the design and development of a connected digital production workflow that links customer orders, component inventory, production planning and order fulfilment. The project will provide Slaphappy with a foundation for scalable growth whilst improving operational visibility and workflow efficiency.

Frameline Ltd is a UK manufacturer and supplier of aluminium windows, doors and glazing systems for the construction sector. The business supports a range of commercial and residential projects and uses systems including Sage 50 and Business Micros to manage sales, purchasing, production and finance activities. As the company continues to grow, it is looking to improve operational visibility, data management and reporting to support more effective decision-making and future digital transformation.
