Milbotix's Journey with Made Smarter
The Challenge

Milbotix have developed SmartSocks®, an innovative wearable technology designed to help identify signs of distress in people living with neurological conditions such as dementia.

Following the successful launch of the product, the business began preparing for growth. However, the company identified several operational bottlenecks that could limit its ability to scale efficiently. Inventory management, order fulfilment and customer engagement processes were becoming increasingly time-consuming, and valuable management time was being spent on day-to-day operational tasks rather than strategic growth activities.

Like many start-ups, Milbotix had focused heavily on product development and sales, leaving less time to optimise internal operations and build scalable processes.

The Solution

A Made Smarter intern worked closely with the business to understand its specific challenges and develop practical recommendations. The programme then provided additional implementation support through a Made Smarter internship.

The intern focused on three key areas:

· Inventory management

· Order fulfilment

· Customer engagement processes

This support enabled Milbotix to introduce more streamlined and efficient ways of working, creating stronger operational foundations for future growth.

The Benefits

By reducing the time spent managing operational processes, Milbotix has increased efficiency and freed up leadership capacity to focus on higher-value strategic activities. The streamlined systems will support the company as it scales production and expands its customer base.

“The work carried out through the Made Smarter internship will save me a lot of time operating the business. It allows me to step back, think more strategically and focus on raising the investment we need to grow.”

Dr James Wright, Founder, Milbotix

The Future

Milbotix is now better positioned to scale its operations and bring SmartSocks® to more people who could benefit from the technology.

Made Smarter South West has helped build the efficient, scalable processes needed to support the next stage of Milbotix ’s growth journey.
