About Us
Grotech Production is a UK-based contract manufacturing SME focused on efficient, high-quality production. We are committed to growth, innovation, and digital transformation, with a particular focus on improving how we capture, process, and use operational data across admin and the shop floor.
Internship Overview
We are offering a 12-week Digital Internship to support Grotech Production’s implementation of AI Agents and workflow automation. You will help identify high-impact processes, design and prototype agent-assisted solutions, and improve the flow of management information especially around data processing, supply chain coordination, and end-of-day production reporting.
Duration: 25th May to 17th August
Commitment: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week
Location: Britannia Road, Goole, DN14 6ET
Rate of Pay – £12.71 per hour
This internship will provide practical experience in applying digital tools and techniques within the manufacturing sector.
What You’ll Gain
- Hands-on experience designing and testing AI-enabled process improvements in a live manufacturing environment
- Exposure to operational data flows across production, purchasing, stock control, and reporting
- Mentorship from operational and business stakeholders, plus structured feedback on your outputs
- Experience translating business needs into requirements, prompts, workflows, and measurable outcomes
- The opportunity to build a portfolio of prototypes (e.g., automated end-of-day reporting, exception handling, and management dashboards)
Project Responsibilities
As an intern, you will:
- Map current processes and data sources (e.g., spreadsheets, ERP/MRP exports, email-based ordering, stock and production logs) and identify pain points and duplication
- Define user stories and success measures for priority use cases (e.g., faster end-of-day reporting, fewer stock discrepancies, improved supplier follow-up, reduced manual re-keying)
- Design, prototype, and test AI Agent workflows to support data processing and decision support (e.g., extracting/validating data, generating summaries, flagging exceptions, drafting updates)
- Improve end-of-day production reporting by creating a repeatable workflow that consolidates inputs, applies checks, and produces a clear shift/production summary for management
- Support supply chain and stock control efficiency by helping develop automated request for quote system, exception reports (e.g., late suppliers, low stock, overdue POs) and standardised follow-up outputs
- Document the solutions clearly (process maps, prompts, runbooks, and handover notes) and present progress updates to stakeholders
- Apply good practice around data quality, access control, and safe use of AI tools (e.g., handling sensitive data appropriately, validating outputs, and maintaining an audit trail where needed)
