About the role:

This is a 12-week paid internship opportunity with CJ Tool & Mouldings, as part of the WMG Internship Programme, in collaboration with Made Smarter. In this role, you will support with the implementation of a new MRP/ERP system.

The internship is based in Stourbridge, gaining practical insights into the workings of a manufacturing environment and the implementation of an MRP/ERP system. As part of the programme, you will benefit from weekly supervision and support by a Made Smarter expert, ensuring you have guidance and resources throughout your internship.

Through this Internship you will have the chance to:

• Assist with data migration and integration to a new MRP/ERP system
• Develop user training for the new system
• Support system configuration testing and validation
• Document processes and work on refining on the new system
• Support with system tests, identify issues and resolution

About the company:

CJ Tool & Mouldings are based in the West Midlands and supplying plastic injection mouldings throughout the UK and global markets. They offer design, tooling, moulding and assembly.

Duties and responsibilities:

• Objective 1: Support Data Migration and Integration

Objective: Assist in migrating data from spreadsheets to the new MRP/ERP system.

Outcome: Ensure data accuracy and consistency across all modules (inventory, production, sales, etc.).

• Objective 2: User Training and Support

Objective: Work alongside the team to provide user training sessions and document user guides.

Outcome: Enhance employee understanding and smooth adoption of the new system across departments.

• Objective 3: Testing and Validating System Customisations and Configurations

Objective: Support with validating the configuration of the MRP/ERP system, ensuring settings match business processes.

Outcome: Ensure the system is tailored to meet operational needs and increases efficiency.

• Objective 4: Process Mapping and Optimisation

Objective: Help document existing ERP/MRP processes and translate them to standard operating procedures specific and relevant to C J Tool and Mouldings.

Outcome: Identify and document key ERP/MRP processes (e.g., inventory management, production scheduling).

• Objective 5: Testing and Issue Resolution

Objective: Assist in running system tests, identifying issues, and ensuring the system functions as expected.

Outcome: Resolve any issues promptly to ensure smooth system functionality at go-live.

Skills and experience

ESSENTIAL:

1. Educated to degree level in Engineering/Business Management, or equivalent
2. Proficiency in digital tools related to the objective
3. Strong team player with a proactive, adaptable attitude, comfortable working closely with colleagues and contributing to a supportive team environment
4. Good verbal and written communication skills, demonstrating sound judgment when interacting with others; highly communicative and able to integrate well within a team

DESIRABLE:

1. 1. Experience with MRP/ERP systems, specifically, implementation, data migration, business process analysis and user training
   2. Experience or a demonstratable interest of working in a manufacturing environment
