Build a Digital Compliance System for a Fire Protection Firm.
Help a well-established fire safety company modernise its operations by creating a digital compliance system to track the activities that keep projects safe, efficient, and audit-ready in real time.

Project and Goals.
The core goal is to develop and implement a comprehensive digital project management system that ensures all project engineers and workshop staff consistently, efficiently, and effectively meet ISO 9001 and LPCB standards across projects of varying size and complexity.
Key objectives:
•    Ensure project objectives, on time and on budget delivery.
•    Standardise critical control points and workflows.
•    Minimise compliance risks and human error.
•    Increase transparency and accountability across projects.
•    Enable data-driven oversight through real-time dashboards.
•    Generate KPIs and review best practices.    
•    Support training and onboarding with digital resources for current and new staff
Scope of Work, Methods, and Tools
The intern will work across five structured phases over 300 hours:
- Discovery Phase – Document current compliance processes, identify gaps, and map critical control points by job role and project type. Identify software packages for best fit.
- System Design – Co-develop a digital compliance framework and dashboard prototypes in collaboration with key stakeholders.
- Pilot Testing – Implement a test version of the system on a selection of live projects and gather feedback.
- Full Rollout – Deploy the solution business-wide, including configuration of tools, data input workflows, and real-time dashboards and tracked KPIs.
- Continuous Improvement – Establish audit logs, feedback channels, and regular system reviews to maintain relevance and performance.
Tools and methods may include:
- Workflow software (e.g., Monday.com, Uptick & Airtable, or bespoke)
- AI-driven compliance and pricing validation tools
- Cloud-based document repositories
- Power BI or similar for dashboard creation
Intern Roles and Responsibilities
- Map and analyse existing compliance workflows.
- Develop tailored project flows, checklists, and digital tools.
- Build and configure dashboards and validation systems.
- Test and iterate tools based on real project data.
- Produce training materials and deliver onboarding sessions.
- Collaborate closely with the Compliance Manager and project team & engineering apprentices.
Intern Skills Required
- Software development or configuration skills – Experience with the following software tools would be useful but not essential. Sage (finance), CASH (Technical Service and Maintenance Software), AutoCAD and Revit (design and modelling), iAuditor/Safety Culture (health and safety), and an in-house CRM system
- Understanding of digital workflow tools and dashboards
- Basic knowledge of ISO 9001 / LPCB principles desirable
- Strong communication and documentation skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

- Complete roll out of Project Management Software ERP system
- 100% project compliance with ISO 9001 and LPCB standards. HSE Compliant.
- Reduction in non-conformities and rework visits
- Real-time compliance dashboards implemented and KPIs monitored ongoing.
- Stakeholder satisfaction and positive audit outcomes
- Intern provides a complete set of tools, training, and documentation (OMIs)
