Project Goals and Objectives
Company is a specialist manufacturer in the motorsport supply chain. The business aims to strengthen its digital capability by improving its reverse-engineering workflow using 3D scanning and developing a small-scale 3D print farm. These advancements will support future ambitions including a digital parts repository and a heritage motorsport archiving service. The internship will give hands-on experience in scanning, additive manufacturing, workflow optimisation, and digital process development.
Specific objectives are to:
- Optimise the reverse-engineering workflow using the Shining EinScan scanner.
- Establish a reliable 3D print farm using the Creality K2+.
- Implement data capture and monitoring of print operations.
- Develop an automated or semi-automated method of sending files for manufacture.
- Lay the foundations for a digital parts repository and archiving system.
Intern Skills Required
The intern will have:
- Interest in digital manufacturing and reverse engineering.
- Basic experience with 3D CAD or scanning Understanding of 3D printing workflows.
- Optional coding or automation experience (e.g., Python, APIs).
- Strong documentation and problem-solving skills.
Intern Roles and Responsibilities
The intern will:
- Operate and optimise 3D scanning equipment and software.
- Produce CAD-ready models from scan data.
- Configure and operate 3D printers for consistent output.
- Develop automated workflows for print submissions. Capture and analyse print performance data.
- Document digital workflows and create training materials. Present final recommendations to the company
