Overview: We are offering a 12-week Digital Internship to support a project improving how quality, process and operational documentation is managed across the business. Working with machine shop and assembly teams, you will review, organise and standardise SOPs, risk assessments, safety data sheets and quality records; document current machining and assembly processes; and align documentation with quality and compliance requirements. The role will help create clear, accessible procedures, support consistency and training, explore digital document management tools, improve document access and version control, and identify opportunities for continuous improvement, resulting in a practical, scalable quality management system.
Desirable Skills: Graduated in any of the following: manufacturing, mechanical, industrial/production engineering, supply chain management, operations, quality management and business management/improvement. Internship Overview
We are offering a 12-week Digital Internship to support a key project focused on improving how quality, process and operational documentation is structured, accessed and used within the business. This role will work directly with teams in the machine shop and assembly areas to move from a mix of disconnected documents and manual processes towards a more standardised, accessible and digitally supported quality management approach.
Duration: 12-weeks
Location: Egerton Street, Sheffield S1 4JX onsite
Commitment: 40 hours per week
Rate of Pay – £12.71 per hour
This internship will provide practical experience in applying digital tools and techniques within the manufacturing sector.

Project Responsibilities
1. Quality & Process Documentation (Primary Focus Areas)
- Review and organise existing documentation, including SOPs, risk assessments, safety data sheets and quality records.
- Work with shopfloor teams to understand current assembly and machining processes.
- Digitise and standardise documents into a consistent and usable format.
- Map process documentation to relevant compliance and quality requirements.
- Desired outcome: A structured and accessible library of quality and operational documents that supports both compliance and practical use on the shopfloor.
2. Standard Operating Procedures & Workflow Alignment (Primary Focus Areas)
- Create or refine SOPs to accurately reflect existing assembly and machining processes.
- Ensure documentation aligns with actual workflows rather than theoretical processes.
- Support consistency in how tasks are carried out across teams.
- Desired outcome: Clear, standardised procedures that improve consistency, reduce variation and support training.
3. Training & Knowledge Capture (Secondary Focus Areas – time permitting)
- Support the development of training materials based on documented procedures.
- Explore how training can be generated directly from SOPs.
- Help identify opportunities to capture evidence of work and compliance within day-to-day processes. Desired outcome: Improved ability to train staff and maintain consistency through structured, process-led learning
4. Digital Structure & Continuous Improvement (Secondary Focus Areas – time permitting)
- Explore simple digital tools or platforms to manage documentation effectively.
- Identify opportunities to improve how documents are accessed and updated.
- Support a more structured approach to ongoing process improvement and version control.
- Desired outcome: A practical and scalable approach to managing quality and process documentation digitally
