Overview: The Digital Technology Intern will support a live operational transformation programme, helping improve how data is captured, used, and reported across the business. The role will involve optimising our manufacturing system (ProgressPlus) to improve time recording, job costing, and production traceability, working closely with production and operations teams. The intern will also design and build Power BI dashboards using manufacturing and financial data to replace manual spreadsheet reporting and provide clear, real‑time operational insights. In addition, they will support digital process improvement across departments, helping create a stronger data foundation to support future growth in sectors such as Aerospace & Defence.
Desirable Skills: Working knowledge of Power BI or similar data visualisation tools, competence in Microsoft Excel for data manipulation & analysis, familiarity with ERP or MIS systems (manufacturing systems experience desirable), ability to document processes & workflows
Job Description:
The Digital Technology Intern will support a live operational transformation programme, focused on improving data capture, system discipline, and management insight across the business.
Key activities include:
Manufacturing Systems Optimisation
- Audit and optimise use of ProgressPlus (MIS/ERP) to improve time capture, job costing accuracy, and production traceability.
- Work with production and operations teams to improve data input discipline and document improved digital workflows.
Data, Reporting & Analytics - Design and build Power BI dashboards drawing on ProgressPlus and financial data.
- Develop real time reporting covering production throughput, utilisation, job costing, margins, and key operational KPIs.
- Replace manual, spreadsheet based reporting with structured, automated insights for leadership.
Digital Process Improvement - Support cross departmental mapping of digital processes and identify opportunities for improved integration and efficiency.
- Contribute to the creation of a stronger data foundation to support future growth into regulated sectors such as Aerospace & Defence.
