Overview: The successful candidate will work with operational leaders, functional experts and digital specialists to identify, map and automate key business data streams. The aim is to create a single source of truth for performance reporting, replacing manual data handling with automated dashboards and real-time business insights. The role involves analysing data across manufacturing, quality, finance, supply chain, sales and engineering to improve data quality, connectivity and accessibility. A key outcome will be the development of automated dashboards that support daily operations, governance processes and Board-level decision-making.

About the role:

This is a 12-week paid internship opportunity with Tecman Speciality Materials Ltd, as part of the Made Smarter Internship Programme.

This project supports Tecman's next phase of digital transformation by developing an integrated business intelligence framework capable of delivering real-time operational, financial, quality and strategic performance insights across the organisation.

The successful candidate will work alongside operational leaders, functional experts and external digital specialists to identify, map and automate key business data streams. The objective is to establish a single source of truth for performance reporting, eliminating manual data manipulation and enabling instant visibility of critical business metrics through automated dashboards and executive reporting tools.

The project will involve analysing multiple data sources across manufacturing, quality, finance, supply chain, sales and engineering functions, identifying opportunities to improve data integrity, connectivity and accessibility. A key deliverable will be the design of automated performance dashboards to support daily management reviews, operational governance processes and Board-level reporting.

In parallel, the candidate will work with subject matter experts to investigate the application of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning technologies within Tecman's operations. This will include assessing opportunities for predictive analytics, anomaly detection, forecasting, process optimisation and intelligent decision support systems.

By delivering these objectives, the project will establish the foundations of a data-driven organisation, accelerating decision making, improving operational performance and supporting Tecman's long-term Industry 4.0 and business growth strategy. As part of the programme, you will benefit from weekly supervision and support by a Made Smarter expert, ensuring you have guidance and resources throughout your internship.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Main activities will include:
· Conduct a comprehensive review of existing business reporting processes and identify all key data sources across Operations, Quality, Finance, Engineering, Supply Chain and Sales.
· Create a structured data map identifying data ownership, collection methods, system interfaces and opportunities for automation.
· Design and develop automated dashboards to support Daily Performance Reviews, SQCDP management routines and Board-level reporting.
· Assess current data quality, governance and reporting accuracy, identifying opportunities to improve reliability and reduce manual intervention.
· Develop a business intelligence framework capable of providing near real-time performance visibility across the organisation.
· Evaluate opportunities for AI-enabled analytics including forecasting, predictive maintenance, quality trend analysis and demand planning.
· Work alongside digital and AI subject matter experts to assess the feasibility of machine learning applications within Tecman's manufacturing environment.
· Produce a phased roadmap outlining future opportunities for advanced analytics, AI integration and digital decision-support capabilities.
