Job Description:

Our manufacturing process involves turning sheet metal into beautiful and highly engineered floor box and trunking solutions.

Sheet metal is bought in and the first step in the manufacturing process is to punch out these sheets into pre programmed product configurations.

We use SolidWorks 3D CAD design and 2D Radan CAM software for programming CNC-controlled sheet metal punch machines as follows:

Radan 2D CAM software

  • This programmes Trumpf CNC punch machines
  • Flat 2D programming for our sheet metal products

We want to create new 3D CAD product drawings in SolidWorks, which we then ‘flatten’ into Radan 2D CAM programmes for production

These are for standard products - we now have templates for our two main floor box ranges, 700 series and Minima

We also use SolidWorks for bespoke product development which need templates as a start point for the process

What will you be doing?

  • All work will be done at our factory as you will need to access the physical parts, collaborate effectively with key people and learn and get up to speed quickly
  • Complete intensive manufacturing induction and training process so you understand our product range and how it is manufactured from a practical viewpoint before developing CAD drawings in SolidWorks design software
  • Gain understanding of our existing template CAD drawings in SolidWorks design software by reviewing completed templates of our core floor box range
  • Create production quality CAD drawing templates of our:
    • Core trunking range, including accessories
    • Main interfaces with our floor boxes, i.e. junction boxes, spigots
    • Liaise with Solid Solutions, who provide us with technical support, to enable you to work as independently as possible
  • Support and improve bespoke product development process using SolidWorks
    • Convert CAD drawings into customer-facing documents and visuals to aid customer collaboration
    • Raise skills of our programmers while doing the above work
