Job Description:
This internship is focused on supporting live digital improvement projects within EPS Services & Tooling Ltd. The intern will work alongside the business’s digital lead to help digitise key operational and commercial processes across the company.
A key focus of the placement will be supporting the development of a digital blade tracking system using Microsoft SharePoint and Power Apps. This system will help EPS record and monitor where customer blades are within the factory, improving visibility, reducing manual tracking, and supporting better customer communication.
The intern may also support wider digital projects, including reviewing SEO performance across EPS’s three websites, identifying opportunities for improvement, and helping document existing digital and operational processes. This may include writing structured documentation for systems such as the PODFather API integration, internal workflows, and other Microsoft 365-based tools.
This placement offers hands-on experience in digital transformation within a real manufacturing and engineering business. The intern will have the opportunity to contribute to practical projects that improve day-to-day operations, customer service, data visibility, and internal knowledge sharing. This project will improve both the productivity and speed of reporting
Main responsibilities
The intern’s responsibilities will include:
• Supporting the planning and development of a digital blade tracking system using SharePoint and Power Apps.
• Helping map current factory and administrative processes to understand how digital tools can improve them.
• Assisting with the creation, testing, and refinement of digital forms, lists, dashboards, and workflows.
• Reviewing SEO performance across EPS’s websites and identifying practical improvement opportunities.
• Supporting the creation of structured documentation for key business systems and processes.
• Helping document API-based workflows, including PODFather-related processes.
• Gathering feedback from staff and helping translate operational requirements into digital solutions.
• Supporting general digital improvement work across Microsoft 365, Power Apps, SharePoint, automation, and reporting tools.
These tasks will be tailored to the intern’s strengths, the project priorities, and the needs of the business.
Learning outcomes
This internship offers the opportunity to apply academic learning in a real-world business environment and contribute directly to digital transformation within a manufacturing and engineering company.
The student will gain practical experience in understanding business problems, mapping processes, building or supporting digital tools, and communicating technical information clearly to non-technical users.
During the internship, the student will benefit from:
• Hands-on experience with live digital transformation projects.
• Exposure to Microsoft 365 tools such as SharePoint, Power Apps, and Power Automate.
• Experience of digital process mapping and structured documentation.
• Insight into how digital systems support manufacturing, customer service, and operational efficiency.
• Practical experience reviewing SEO and website improvement opportunities.
• Mentoring and regular support from the company’s digital lead.
• Development of transferable skills including communication, problem solving, project planning, documentation, and collaboration.
• The opportunity to produce work that has a visible and lasting impact on the business.
