About The Business: GW Shelter Solutions supplies, installs and maintains bespoke bus shelters and street furniture across the UK, including seating, timetable cases and related infrastructure. Working with local authorities, parish councils and other organisations, the company manages projects from initial customer enquiry through to installation, refurbishment, repairs and ongoing maintenance. As the business continues to grow, it is investing in digital transformation to improve efficiency, reduce manual administration and create better visibility across projects. Overview: During this internship, you'll support an exciting digital transformation project within a growing business. You'll analyse current processes, map workflows from customer order to installation, and identify opportunities to improve efficiency. Working with the team, you'll help evaluate a new ERP system (Odoo), support system testing, and explore integration with Sage Accounts. You'll also review order tracking, purchasing and inventory processes, investigate automation opportunities, analyse business data, and help create recommendations and process documentation to support future improvements.
Desirable Skills: Knowledge of ERP, CRM or MRP systems. Awareness of Odoo, Sage or similar business software. Experience mapping processes, analysing data or supporting improvement projects.
Job Description:
During this internship, you'll play a key role in supporting the company's digital transformation journey.
Business Process Analysis
- Review and document current business workflows.
- Map processes from customer order through to installation and invoicing.
- Identify inefficiencies, duplication of effort and opportunities for improvement.
- Support stakeholder interviews and gather business requirements.
ERP System Evaluation
- Help assess the suitability of an ERP/MRP system (Odoo).
- Review system functionality and available modules.
- Support testing and trial activities.
- Explore integration opportunities with Sage Accounts
Digital Operations & Order Tracking
- Review how customer orders are managed through the business.
- Develop recommendations to improve project visibility and tracking.
- Investigate ways to automate workflows and reduce manual administration.
Purchasing & Inventory Improvement
- Analyse current purchasing processes.
- Explore opportunities for inventory and materials tracking.
- Make recommendations for improved operational efficiency.
Reporting & Recommendations
- Support data analysis and reporting activities.
- Develop process documentation and user guidance.
- Present findings and recommendations to the management team.
