Desirable Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving ability. Business analysis and process mapping. Web development and software development. UX/UI design.
Job Description:
Overall Project Goal
To investigate, prototype and recommend the most practical, scalable and maintainable route to an integrated online customisation solution that enables customers to design bespoke boxing shorts independently, reduces manual order administration and supports the seamless flow of customer, order and production data across the business.
SMART Objectives
1. Understand the Current Process and Review Previous Development Work
By 50 internship hours, document the existing customer journey and ordering process from initial enquiry through to production and delivery.
- Review the work already completed with KitBuilder, including training outputs, customer journey documentation, available assets and lessons learned, to identify opportunities and avoid duplication of effort.
- Measures of Success
- Current-state process map completed.
- Existing KitBuilder work reviewed and documented.
- Process bottlenecks identified.
- Business requirements captured and validated.
2. Develop a Digital Asset Library and Configuration Requirements Specification
By 120 internship hours, create a structured digital asset library and configuration requirements specification covering key product variants, materials, colours, logos, fonts, tassels, trims, crystals/diamantes, waistband options, sizing options and other configurable product features required for an online customisation tool.
- The asset library should be suitable for future use regardless of the technology route selected.
- Measures of Success
- Asset inventory completed.
- Existing assets organised and categorised.
- Asset gaps identified.
- Functional requirements documented.
3. Assess Technology Options and Technical Feasibility
By 190 internship hours, evaluate the feasibility of three potential implementation routes:
-
- Commercial product configurator platforms.
- Bespoke supplier-developed solutions.
- AI-assisted solutions developed using tools such as Claude, ChatGPT or similar technologies.
- The assessment should consider functionality, implementation effort, integration capability, scalability, costs, risks, maintenance requirements and long-term sustainability.
- Measures of Success
- Options appraisal completed.
- Buy vs Build vs AI-assisted comparison produced.
- Risks and constraints documented.
- Preferred solution approach identified.
4. Develop and Evaluate a Prototype or MVP
By 260 internship hours, and where feasible within the available internship time, develop and test a simple prototype, MVP or demonstrator illustrating how a customer-facing customisation process could operate and how information could flow into downstream business processes.
The objective is to demonstrate feasibility and support decision-making rather than deliver a commercial-ready platform.
Measures of Success
- Prototype or demonstrator completed.
- Core customer journey demonstrated.
- Initial testing completed.
- Feedback and improvement opportunities documented.
5: Produce a Business Case and Implementation Roadmap
By completion of the 300-hour internship, produce a final recommendation report outlining the preferred solution, implementation requirements, estimated costs, anticipated benefits, integration requirements, risks and recommended next steps.
The report should also assess maintainability, ownership requirements and the internal capability required to support the solution in the future.
Measures of Success
- Final recommendation report produced.
- Implementation roadmap completed.
- Ownership and support requirements identified.
- Findings presented to business stakeholders.
Scope of Work, Methods, and Tools
