Overview: Sarah Plumb Ltd is seeking a Digital Technology Intern to support the development of an innovative measurement system. The intern will review existing methods, evaluate software solutions, conduct practical trials, and work with operational teams to improve data accuracy and reduce manual processes. This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in digital transformation, data capture technologies, process improvement and systems integration within a growing manufacturing business.

Job Description:

Sarah Plumb Ltd is looking for a motivated Digital Technology Intern to support a digital innovation project focused on transforming how sofa measurements are captured for reupholstery projects.

The internship will investigate the use of technology and specialist software, to create a more accurate and efficient measurement process. The project aims to reduce manual data collection, improve measurement accuracy and support future automation across the business. The intern will work with sales consultants, operational staff and software developers to understand the current measurement journey, trial digital solutions and develop recommendations for future implementation.

Project Objectives

  • Understand and document existing customer measurement processes.
  • Evaluate photogrammetry and 3D scanning software solutions.
  • Assess scan quality, repeatability and usability across multiple furniture types.
  • Explore methods for validating digital measurement data.
  • Define requirements for future integration with internal software systems.
  • Produce a business case and implementation roadmap for wider adoption.

Key Responsibilities

The intern will:

  • Observe existing customer measurement activities and processes,
  • Shadow sales consultants undertaking customer measurements
  • Evaluate software tools for measurement capture
  • Configure and test digital scanning workflows
  • Analyse data quality, accuracy and measurement consistency
  • Map processes and customer journeys
  •  Produce reports, recommendations and implementation guidance and present findings and final project outcomes to the business.
