Their products include advanced plate mounting and proofing machines which help printing companies improve efficiency, accuracy and productivity in prepress operations. The business operates engineer-to-order processes supported by several established digital systems, including 4D (CRM), Sage (MRP and accounts) and SolidWorks (CAD).

Design and pilot a weight-based stock replenishment approach that triggers action when bins reach a defined minimum level. Consider RFID tags.

Data and Systems Integration

Preston based manufacturing SME specialising in the design and manufacture of GRP mouldings for commercial and specialist vehicles. The business is transitioning from paper based and manual systems to a fully digital approach to managing production, purchasing and accounting.

The company is implementing MRPeasy for manufacturing operations and moving from Sage to Xero for accounting, with the intention of removing Sage entirely. Smart Manufacturers will support the initial system set up and onboarding, after which the business will manage the data migration and system embedding internally. The internship will support the Director with the transfer of data into the new system, the development of clear data flows, and the creation of reporting and dashboards. The project will ensure that accurate, structured data is in place and that the business can operate effectively using MRPeasy and Xero.
